Hidden Leaks in Glendale Homes
In Glendale, the most common hidden leaks we find are under the slab. Homes from the 1980s and 1990s, like much of Arrowhead Ranch, have copper water lines beneath the concrete that are now thirty-plus years old. Pinholes form, especially on hot water lines, and the water seeps into the soil under the floor.
Older homes near downtown can have a different problem: galvanized or aging copper lines inside walls that corrode at fittings and leak slowly behind drywall.
And then there are leaks that are not in the house at all. Glendale has plenty of homes with pools and irrigation, and both are common sources of mystery water loss.

How We Narrow It Down
- Check the meter. With every fixture off, is it still moving? That confirms a leak.
- Rule out the yard. We isolate irrigation and check pool auto-fill valves. Glendale homes with pools often have a leak there.
- Separate hot and cold. Shutting off the water heater supply tells us which side is leaking.
- Pressure test and listen. We narrow down the location using pressure testing, listening along the lines and checking for heat and moisture.
- Show you before opening anything. You see where we think it is and what the repair looks like.

Spot Repair or Reroute in Glendale
Once we find a slab leak, you usually have two choices. A spot repair opens the floor at the leak, fixes that section and patches the slab. It works well when the rest of the piping is in good shape and the leak is reachable.
A reroute leaves the leaking pipe under the slab and runs a new line through the walls or attic. It is often better for older copper that has already leaked once, or when the leak sits under cabinets or expensive tile.
If your Glendale home has had multiple leaks, a partial or whole house repipe may cost less than chasing them one by one. See our Glendale repiping page. For more on our overall process, visit our main Peoria leak detection page.
What to Do While You Wait
If you think you have a slab leak in your Glendale home, a few steps limit the damage until we get there.
- Turn off the water heater supply if the warm spot suggests a hot water leak. The cold valve on top of the tank shuts off hot water to the house.
- Watch the meter. Note the reading and check it an hour later with no water use. It tells us how fast the leak is.
- Move rugs and furniture off any damp areas.
- Take photos of damp spots, cracks and your water bill for insurance.
- Shut off the main if water is visibly spreading.
Older Glendale Homes and Wall Leaks
In homes near downtown and Catlin Court, not every hidden leak is under the slab. Galvanized and older copper pipes inside walls can leak at fittings, especially behind showers and near the water heater. The signs are bubbling paint, stained baseboards and musty smells in closets that share a wall with a bathroom. We find those too, and open the wall only where the leak is.
Glendale Area Customers on Our Leak Repairs
Alex was great. We had a stubborn kitchen drain clog and also discovered a leak in the drain line behind the wall. He found and repaired the leak, then stuck with the clog even after running a 100-foot snake through it twice. He came back and hydro jetted the line and cleared out a ton of old grease buildup. Everything is flowing great now. Really appreciate him taking the time to figure out both issues and get everything fixed right. Definitely recommend him.
Caleb Sanders
Great service. Alex is professional and thorough. He changed my osmosis filters. After he left I noticed a small leak. He responded quickly and came right back to fix it. Nice man. I highly recommend.

Glendale Leak Detection FAQs
Can a pool leak make my water bill go up?
Yes. If your pool has an auto-fill valve, a leak in the pool or its plumbing can quietly add water constantly. We check for it as part of our process.
Why are slab leaks common in Arrowhead Ranch?
Many homes there have copper lines under the slab that are now thirty or more years old. Pinholes, especially on hot water lines, are common at that age.
How do I check for a leak myself?
Turn off every faucet and appliance, then look at your water meter. If the leak indicator or dial is moving, you likely have a leak.
Will you have to break up my tile?
Not always. Rerouting can avoid opening the floor entirely.
