A single slow bathroom sink is usually hair and soap. Two or three fixtures backing up at once is a different story, and it usually means the blockage is further down, in the branch line or the main sewer line that runs out to the street.
That is why the first thing we do on a drain call in Peoria is figure out where the clog is before we pick a tool. Running a small hand snake through a toilet will not fix a main line that is packed with roots. Running a big machine through a delicate old trap can make things worse. Getting the diagnosis right saves you a second visit.

Kitchen sink drains
Grease, food scraps and coffee grounds build up in the horizontal line behind the cabinet. Garbage disposals do not stop this. They just grind the food smaller so it can stick further down the pipe.

How We Clear a Drain
- We ask a few questions. Which drains are slow, when it started, and whether anything unusual went down. It narrows things down fast.
- We find the access point. That might be the fixture, a cleanout in the yard, or the roof vent. The right access point makes a big difference with long runs.
- We clear it with the right tool. A drain auger for most clogs. For grease, scale and heavy buildup that a cable just punches a hole through, hydro jetting scours the pipe walls clean.
- We run water and test it. We do not leave until the drain flows the way it should.
- We tell you what we found. If the clog points to a bigger problem, like a belly in the line or roots, you will hear about it with no pressure to fix it that day.
Hydro Jetting for Stubborn Peoria Drains
Some drains clog, get snaked, and clog again three weeks later. That usually means the pipe walls are coated with grease or scale and the cable only punched a small hole through the middle.
Hydro jetting uses a high-pressure water hose with a nozzle that sprays backward and to the sides, scrubbing the full diameter of the pipe as it moves through. It is the better option for kitchen lines with years of grease buildup and for sewer lines where roots have been cut but keep coming back.
Jetting is not the right call for every pipe. Older or already cracked lines may need a closer look first. We will tell you which approach fits your line and why.
Why Drains Clog in Peoria Homes
A few local factors make clogs more common here than people expect.
- Hard water scale. Minerals coat the inside of drain pipes over time and narrow them, especially in homes built in the 1970s and 1980s.
- Desert trees. Mesquite, palo verde and ficus roots go looking for moisture, and a tiny crack in a sewer line is an open invitation.
- Low-flow fixtures in long runs. Newer toilets use less water, which is great for your bill but gives waste less push through a long drain line.
- Grease poured down the sink. It is liquid when hot and solid once it cools in the pipe.

Drain Cleaning Questions
Should I use chemical drain cleaner before calling?
We would skip it. Chemical cleaners rarely clear a real clog, they sit in the pipe, and they can damage older drain lines. They also make the job riskier for whoever opens the drain next.
How do I know if it is the main line and not just one drain?
If more than one fixture is slow, if the toilet gurgles when the sink drains, or if water backs up into the tub or shower when you flush, the blockage is likely in the main line.
Is hydro jetting safe for my pipes?
For most drain and sewer lines in good shape, yes. If a line is old, cracked or badly offset, we check it first and recommend the gentler option if jetting could cause harm.
How often should drains be cleaned?
Most homes do not need routine cleaning. If you have a line that clogs every few months, that repeat pattern is a sign something is wrong with the pipe itself, and it is worth finding out what.
Can a clogged drain wait until morning?
