Location. Most Peoria homes have a softener loop in the garage near the water heater. If yours does not, we can add one.

Softener or Reverse Osmosis? You May Want Both

They do different jobs. A water softener treats all the water entering the house to protect plumbing, fixtures and appliances from hardness. It does not make water taste better or remove most dissolved contaminants.

A reverse osmosis system usually sits under the kitchen sink and filters drinking and cooking water through a membrane. It improves taste and removes a lot of what a softener leaves behind.

A lot of Peoria homes use both: a softener for the house and RO at the kitchen tap. Leah Wills mentioned in her review that Alex recommended the under-sink RO system he uses in his own home.

Water Softener Questions

How hard is the water in Peoria?

Peoria and the rest of the Phoenix area have hard to very hard water. Your water provider’s annual water quality report lists the hardness for your area, and we can test at your tap.

Does a softener make water salty?

Softened water contains a small amount of sodium from the ion exchange process, but it does not taste salty at normal hardness levels. Many people put an RO system at the kitchen sink for drinking water.

How often do I add salt?

It depends on the size of the system, how hard the water is and how much water the household uses. Checking the brine tank monthly and keeping it at least partly full works for most homes.

Why does my softener have water sitting in the brine tank?

Some water in the brine tank is normal for many systems. A tank that is full of water, or salt that never goes down, can point to a clogged injector, a stuck valve or a salt bridge.
