City Water Versus Well Water
Buckeye homes in master-planned communities get water from a municipal or private water provider. That water is hard, and a standard softener handles it well.
Rural Buckeye properties on private wells can have different water. Besides hardness, well water may carry sand and sediment, iron that stains fixtures, or sulfur that smells. A softener alone is not always enough.
We look at your water source before recommending a system.

Softeners for Well Water
On well systems, we often recommend a sediment filter ahead of the softener. It catches sand and grit that would otherwise foul the softener’s resin and wear out valves throughout the house.
If your well water has iron, some softeners can handle low levels, but higher iron may need a dedicated filter. If there is a sulfur smell, that is a separate issue as well. Having your well water tested gives us the information to set up the right system.
Installation in Newer Buckeye Homes
Most newer homes in Verrado, Sundance and Tartesso have a softener loop. We connect to it with a bypass valve, run the drain with an air gap, and program the softener for your household.
If your home came with a softener that has not been serviced, it may need attention. We repair and replace most common brands. We also install reverse osmosis systems for drinking water. See our main Peoria water softener page for more.

Getting Your Well Water Tested
If your Buckeye property is on a private well, a water test is the best first step before choosing a treatment system. A test tells you the hardness, iron, sulfur, and other minerals in your water, which determines whether a softener alone will do the job or whether you need filtration before it.
Many labs and some local water treatment companies offer well water testing. Once you have results, we can help you interpret what matters for your plumbing and fixtures.
City Water Communities
If you live in Verrado, Sundance, Tartesso or another community with municipal or private water service, your provider publishes an annual water quality report with hardness information. For most of those homes, a standard softener sized for your household is all you need.
Salt Delivery and Rural Properties
On larger rural Buckeye properties, the softener may be in a garage or utility room some distance from where you park. We place new softeners where adding salt is as easy as possible, and size them so you are not hauling bags more often than necessary.
